Episode 6 - How can we boost Turkey-US trade?
In this episode, we explore the findings of an expansive study commissioned by TAİK, that forecasts an up to $200 billion drop in the US-China trade corridor by 2023, compared to 2019 levels, due to factors including Covid-19 changing the dynamics of global trade, trade conflicts being intensified and buyers constantly looking for more efficient supply chains.
The study, conducted by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), builds on research on the best ways to increase bilateral TR-US trade to $100 billion and recommends Turkish industry focuses on new areas such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, smart cities, and household devices as part of the 'internet of things'.
Joining me to discuss all things TR-US trade is Professor Ahmet Kasim Han, faculty member at the Department of International Relations at Istanbul’s Altinbas University. He serves as a board member at EDAM, a leading independent think-tank, is an adjunct professor of strategy for the Turkish National Defense University Atatürk Strategic Research Institute, and is a member of TAİK's advisory board.
